Commercial name – Mortar Collimator
Product name – Collimator for 120mm and 81mm mortars

Description – The Collimator is an essential optical device for the precise alignment of the aiming device in light and heavy mortars. Its main function is to establish the axis of the weapon, ensuring that the aiming device is correctly adjusted to the mortar. With its precision and reliability, the Collimator plays a crucial role in achieving accurate and efficient shots, ensuring the operational effectiveness of military units.

In addition to facilitating the alignment of the weapon, the Collimator also contributes to the safety and proper functioning of mortars. With its proper use, it is possible to avoid aiming errors and unwanted deviations, minimizing the risks of accidents and maximizing the effectiveness of the shots. Its importance in the military scenario is undeniable, as it is considered an indispensable equipment for the correct adjustment of the aiming device, allowing military forces to achieve their objectives with precision and confidence.

Distinguishing Features – The aiming device must have its reference axes X, Y, Z respectively parallel to those of the mortar it is used with. Through the joint procedure of the mortar, aiming device, and collimator, this parallelism can be ensured. The mortar has fine adjustment screws that are regulated in the procedure.

About Product Development – The 120mm collimator was developed by ARES, while the 81mm collimator was developed in partnership with the Army Technology Center (CTEx). The collimator is an optical equipment used in mortars produced by the Brazilian Army at its Arsenal of War in Rio de Janeiro/RJ (AGR), to enable greater precision in mortar shots.
